Shorinji Kan Jiu Jitsu Classes in Kingston, Ontario
At present, there are two clubs teaching Shorinji Kan Jiu Jitsu in the Kingston, Ontario area. Those clubs are at the Kingston Family YMCA and at Queen’s University. Schedules and training locations for the two clubs are listed below.
Queen’s University Jiu Jitsu Club
The Queen’s University Jiu Jitsu club has offered instruction to students for over 10 years. It is instructed by Chris Brooks, Sensei (3rd Degree Black Belt).
Training Times:
- Wednesday Evenings 7.30pm – 9.30pm
- Friday Evenings 7.00pm – 9.00pm
Training Location:
Training takes place in the Southern Combatives Room, 3rd Floor in the Queen’s Athletics & Recreation Centre (ARC) at 284 Earl Street. (Map)
Kingston Family YMCA Jiu Jitsu Club
The YMCA Jiu Jitsu club was opened in 2004. The current head instructor is Stuart Cooke, Sensei (1st Degree Black Belt). It is open to all Kingston community members. Classes cost approximately $30 per month for YMCA members, and approximately $60 per month for non-YMCA Members.

- Tuesday Evenings Youth (6.30-7.30pm) & Adult (7.30pm-9.30pm)
- Thursday Evenings Youth (6.30pm-7.30pm) & Adult (7.30pm – 9.30pm)

Training takes place in the Upper Studio (behind the basketball court) in the Kingston Family YMCA, at 100 Wright-Crescent. (Map)
