Alex FairweatherSubmitted by thedoctor on Mon, 02/04/2007 - 4:56pm. Fairweather Sensei, NidanAlex is the Sensei of Toronto Jitsu Club. He started Jitsu at Bath University in England in 1991 under Sensei Gary Williams, which was a right giggle. He then moved to London under the tutilage of Sensei Steve Donaghy at University College London. In 1995, Alex founded University of London Union Jitsu Club. Supported by some great instructors (also Sensei Tony Finding Dude, Sensei Ian Lambert TAUMC, Sensei Nigel Price), Alex received his shodan in 1997. The club grew, winning the 1997 National Atemi Championships and 1997 University of London Outstanding Contribution to University of London Sports. In 1998 Alex handed it on to a new brown belt, Sensei Andre Petra, then went AWOL. Having un-AWOL'ed in Canada, Alex started Jitsu Toronto in April 2004 under the invitation of Sensei Andy Dobie. In December 2006, Sensei Andy Dobie locked Alex in a dark room and made him do his nidan. In that same session Sensei Mark Yourkevich received shodan, and in the same year Sensei Chris Thumper Brooks got his jacket, and Sensei Andy Dobie received Yondan. Brilliant! To this day, Alex still reckons ULU Jitsuka can kick UCL's Jitsuka's asses. Especially that OSotoGarvey fella. Categories:
